Jane Radstorm | on Tumblr (USA)
Jane Radstrom is a painter and designer based in Austin, TX. After studying drawing and painting at Watts Atelier California, based on meticulous renaissance traditions of masterful realism, Jane attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, earning a BFA in Illustration. Jane creates works which she considers to be contemporary realism. “I have been inspired by photographic effects, specifically the manipulation of exposure to create images that look “real”, but contain more than a single still image. In choosing poses, I focus on nuances of body language and expression. It is important to me to show unidealized beauty and what I think of as a modern sense of confidence in candid moments. I hope that when you stand in front of a piece you can feel the presence of the person depicted.” Great thanks to artforadults for introducing us Jane Radstrom.

Teagan White | on Tumblr (USA) - Great Horned Owl / Honey & Sorrow
Teagan White is a freelance designer & illustrator from Chicago, currently living and working in St Paul, Minnesota, where she recently earned her BFA in Illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Her body of work encompasses intricate renderings of flora and fauna, playful depictions of cute anthropomorphic critters, illustrative typography, and everything in between. The subtleties of nature and reciprocal relationships between organisms are her primary inspirations, and her work typically incorporates flat, limited color, decorative arrangements of organic forms, and obsessive detail. Femme to Femme is a literary non-fiction, varied anthology seeking to explore femme* identity in the 21st century through various mediums: poetry, essays, stories and narratives, illustration, art and photography. It was inspired by conversation with young femme* folks of color and Joseph Beam’s 1991 collection of writings edited by Essex Hemphill: Brother to Brother: New Writings by Black Gay Men.
We’re looking for submissions from femme* self-identified folks—including gay/queer, straight, bi, asexual, pansexual, trans*, gender fluid, and others along the gender and sexual orientation spectrums.
We’re specifically seeking stories, letters, narratives, critical analyses and essays, illustrations, and photography capturing the essence and nuanced expressions of black and brown femme* personhood across gendered and embodied difference and lived experiences; How you interpret these is up to you. We welcome first-person narratives (of your experiences, relation to other femme folks [mom, sister, grandma, auntie, girlfriend, partner, etc], photos essays, remembrances, reviews of significant literature or films, anything that you’d like to add to the conversation of what femmeness means to you, what it looks like in the 21st century, and how definitions and expectations of it is changing…or not.
